We all know how talented the ladies from ‘Kip and Co’ are don’t we ?! … Smashing out stellar collections one after the other since they launched over 4 years ago. Well, as you know, I have had the pleasure of talking with Hayley Pannekoecke (CEO) & one-third of the team, about their 2016 Subtropics Collection … which has left me wanting to book a holiday somewhere warm with a crystal blue ocean.
Here are a few more of my favourite images from the Subtropics Collection … they will knock you for six!
Hayley says that “each and every collection grows from one single print generally. This season we were keen to create some BIG florals and so from these the colours and the mist mash of colour and texture that is how “subtropics” grew.”
Scouting for locations to shoot each new collection is apparently getting harder and harder for the girls, but in my opinion they always come up with the most amazing imagery, they are always on the lookout for inspiring spaces to showcase their product and ideas. With the ‘Subtropics Collection’ they used two locations, the first just outside Cairns, QLD in an amazing home that sits amongst the rainforest canopy and designed and owned by Jesse Bennett & Anne Marie Campagnola of Jesse Bennett Architects….how divide is it!
Shooting a Summer campaign in our Winter can have its challenges, Hayley said they were basically ‘chasing the sun‘ for this location and where better than sunny QLD … I agree! The second location was in Hayley’s home town of Barwon Heads, Victoria – she just loves her hometown and this keeps it all pretty easy when they can shoot locally.
Does Hayley have a fave from the new collection …. Yep she sure does! Her absolute favourite is their bejewelled resin and brass cutlery, she says, ” it’s so unique and I just can’t wait to entertain with these babies over Summer. Next would have to be the new linen colours Apricot ice, Lavender and rose – I am looking forward to creating a bed of sorbet colours at home with all the gorgeous new colours. It is so amazing and comfy to sleep on real French linen. Finally, I would say our new marbling Kip Body range, super comfy made of 100% cotton jersey… YUM!” The inspiration for the new homewares collection is her love of pretty things,” … pretty simple really!
Hayley’s biggest influences in work and life are her parents & kiddos; ” My parents were really inspiring people who worked hard, respected and valued those around them and loved their family and friends. Mum was super stylish and loved food and fashion, she always inspires me! My kids are always influencing the choices and decisions I make in my everyday life. From print designs and colour choices to what to do on the weekend. I draw on their loves, interests and drawings in designing our Kip Kids collection.” So its family all the way … love it!
Well I’m sure glad that the girls have all followed their passion to create the amazing business! If ‘Kip’ never existed … you would find Hayley happily relaxing under a palm tree in the Bahamas, sunning herself, swimming in the crystal clear water daily and designing swimwear! Food for thought perhaps … I can’t wait for the next collection!
