I am excited to share with you a new Australian boutique brand delivering stunning linen, towels and cushions to our homes … introducing KESEM BOY .
Founded by Talia Golan, originally a Melbourne native, who now resides in Sydney, is not a newcomer to the Design, Architecture and Interiors world. Prior to launching KESEM BOY she ran her own freelance Interior Design business for many years (under the same name), working on both large commercial and smaller residential interior projects.
The development of KESEM BOY started earlier in 2016… the day she found out she was pregnant with her first child! With ‘motherhood’ now on the horizon, Talia tells me she wanted to be a ‘working mamma’ – but wanted to work for herself, searching for a change from the normal ‘9 to 5’ working life. The development of KESEM BOY was a way for her to pour all her creative energy into an “on-going project that was creative; both with my designs and my passion for an evolving business venture” she says. I think you will agree when I say that she has a great eye for style, quality and designing pieces that fall ‘outside the square’. Talia met her, now husband, 4 years ago, her own KESEM BOY, and says that he had always suggested & supported her to design her our brand … now a dream come true.
She has poured endless hours into researching the ‘right manufacturer’ for her products, bed linen and towels are designed in Australia and made in Portugal and the cotton yarn used in her products is sourced from Europe. She was insistent about producing only the highest level of quality for her products, and found these materials and places of manufacturing a great fit for her brand.
KESEM means ‘Magic‘ in Hebrew. Whilst travelling the globe for several years Talia bean to “solidify a belief in the idea that everything truly happens for a reason. It was the reality of magical occurrences that seem to eventuate exactly when they were meant to. I was always being guided by the universe, and somewhat protected I suppose whilst out in the world all by myself”, she says.
Talia shares with me that “her designs and the ethos of the brand, revolve around the idea of losing oneself in the magic of it all; about flowing with colour and pattern, pushing boundaries and trying something new. I endeavour to create designs that are different and daring – such as Spotted Maze Bed Sheets; that’s a pattern to get lost in !” … I’d have to say they look incredible, I love the entire launch collection!
I asked Talia if she has a favourite from her launch range, a tough question I know, but she said ” if I had to pick one, I would have to say the Leopard St. Towel – I am a firm believer that animal prints are a neutral … I will have a leopard print on anything!”
The inspiration behind her launch collection ‘Dreams of Lisboa’ is undoubtably from her travels abroad. She has spent a lot of time living in India, Amsterdam, Israel, and Portugal. She has been influenced by these vast and varied design styles of each city, and the colour pallet for the collection has been inspired by ‘new beach chic lifestyle’ in Bondi Beach, Sydney.
Keep an eye out of this amazing collection on the beaches this summer, it will turn heads!
It was fabulous to talk to you Talia, I can’t wait to have my one piece of KESEM ‘magic’ in my life .
